The story of The Sauce Tool
In 2003, our inventor Bruce Cook was tooling along (no pun intended) to work when he got rear-ended by some teenagers. It wasn’t the collision that was important, but instead the location. You see it happened right in front of the house of Tom Allen. More to come on Tom later.
Fast-forward a couple years to Bruce cooking a big hunk of meat on his back porch while listening to football on the radio. He’d rather been at the game tailgating, but this would have to do for the time being. This was practice in his eyes – a way to perfect his Sunday ritual. His current mission was to find a better way to sauce his meat. The store-bought brushes weren’t cuttin’ the mustard. They were messy, junky and required two hands (one for the sauce and one for the brush).
And so, The Sauce Tool was born.
Bruce invented a better BBQ basting brush that affixed like a crown to the top of the bottle. It had wider bristles. It was easier to clean. Hell, this thing was simply a superior Tool – one that would impress Ben Franklin or Tom Edison; one that would make you a king of the grill. Bruce just needed a good business partner – an experienced investor with business acumen.
Rewind back to the “misfortune” in front of Tom’s house. You see that wreck opened the door for Bruce to go knock on the door and give his 30-second pitch to a potential investor. After all, Tom had found great success in previous business ventures. He was the perfect guy to help with bringing The Sauce Tool to life.
So, Bruce knocked. Tom was sold. And the team took off on their adventure of getting this thing built so that everyone could start treating their meat with a little more respect.
